The News, Explained
On November 6, 2026, Xbox announced that Gears of War: E-Day players would get RAAM as a free multiplayer character for the series’ 20th anniversary. The announced date is the next day, November 7. Xbox says players can claim him immediately by logging in to E-Day. The post gives no exact start time, time zone, or claim deadline. Source
The limited-time modes belong to a separate two-week anniversary event that started that week. In Guardian, a competitive Versus mode, only one leader survives. In For the Queen, a Horde Siege mode where players face enemies together, the supply cache is turned off. The squad has to rely on the equipment each player brings instead of drawing supplies from the cache. Source
The Korean Xbox Store says console online multiplayer requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate. That is a requirement for playing online on console. For the RAAM gift, Xbox directs E-Day players to log in to the game. Source Source
Season 2, called Legacy, is scheduled to start December 1. It revisits maps, modes, and character appearances from earlier games. One example Xbox gives is an appearance for Dom in the suit from a photograph in Gears of War 2. Source
OYOPICK’s Take
The date to watch depends on why you’re coming back. If you want RAAM, the action Xbox specifies is logging in from November 7. If you want to play the limited-time modes with friends, make time during the two-week event and account for the console online subscription where it applies. A published claim deadline would make it easier for people who have taken a break from the game to plan their return. Source Source
