The News, Explained

LG announced expanded capabilities for its Sound Suite home audio system on October 14, 2026. The H7 soundbar gains DTS:X and Google Cast support, while compatible configurations can connect two W7 subwoofers. A soundbar is a long speaker placed near a television; a subwoofer handles low-frequency sound. These enhancements arrive through software updates, with conditions governing their availability, supported features and timing. Source

Sound Suite combines wireless speakers into a home audio setup. LG emphasizes flexible placement through Dolby Atmos FlexConnect rather than a fixed speaker layout. Three different questions help organize this announcement: which audio formats can play, which speakers can be combined, and which wireless networks the configuration supports. Source

The grid compares devices and conditions from the same announcement. LG says the network enhancements broaden compatibility for stereo and multi-speaker configurations. The 6 GHz and 5 GHz labels identify wireless frequency bands; DFS channels are a specific 5 GHz connection condition named in this notice. The announcement’s qualification is preserved rather than treating every router as supported. Source

DTS:X is presented here as an expansion of multidimensional audio playback from compatible content. LG is also developing a Media Connect Hub intended to enable DTS:X playback from compatible external source devices. Additional information will be announced later through official channels, and the product’s availability, features and timing can change. The announced H7 enhancement and the developing hub are at different stages. Source

Connecting two W7 subwoofers provides more than additional output in LG’s account. The company says extra placement options can improve bass consistency across multiple seating positions. This describes LG’s intended benefit; OYOPICK has not conducted a listening test or measured results in different rooms. Source

Google Cast adds a way to stream music, podcasts and entertainment content to H7. The source’s footnote says availability, timing and supported features can vary by model, country or region, router compatibility and software version. This notice does not establish an identical rollout date or feature set for every Korean model. Source

OYOPICK’s Take

The notable opportunity is to expand the choices offered by an existing audio system through software. For an H7 owner, audio formats and streaming paths matter; for someone considering another W7, compatible speaker combinations and placement options are separate questions. Sorting the changes by the equipment and connection a reader uses makes purchasing and update expectations more concrete than simply counting new features.

A modular system’s flexibility depends on knowing which combinations and versions actually support each feature. We hope LG’s regional update guidance puts models, versions and router conditions together. The Media Connect Hub is a future comparison point once its details are confirmed. Likewise, different rooms and placements make LG’s bass-consistency explanation insufficient to guarantee the same result in every space.
