The News, Explained

On October 23, 2026, Meta introduced new administrator tools for Forum, its app for Facebook Groups. The update covers reviewing pending content, combining automatic moderation conditions and sharing a team’s posting schedule. Forum is available in the US on iOS and Android, using a Facebook account. Source

The admin AI assistant helps sort items awaiting attention, including membership requests and pending posts, and suggests next steps. It also highlights what is working, what needs attention and topics members are discussing. A new drafting capability lets administrators review and edit suggested posts, then publish when they are ready. Source

For rule review, AI adds a tag indicating whether a pending post likely meets the group’s rules or may conflict with them. The tags appear in the pending-post queue and in admin AI to help administrators decide what to approve. A queue is the list of items awaiting a decision; a tag supplies an assessment to consider while reading that list. Source

Admin Assist handles a different part of the workflow: automatic moderation using conditions chosen by an administrator. Custom rules can now combine conditions such as post length, link use and previous moderation actions. Distinguishing AI assessment from the configuration of automatic criteria helps clarify the tools’ respective roles. Meta says administrators control what they allow in their group, and all posts remain subject to its Community Standards. Source

Administrators and moderators can use one calendar to see posts their team has scheduled. Admin AI can also help draft and schedule up to five posts in one go. That number describes a batch of posts being prepared. Comment pinning provides another way to highlight a member’s answer, correction or clarification. Source

OYOPICK’s Take

We see a useful boundary between finding content that needs judgment and defining rules for automatic handling. A tag estimating a post’s fit with a rule becomes more useful when an administrator can interpret it in the context of their community. We would welcome clear explanations of which rule led to an assessment.

The shared calendar addresses a separate need. A team needs both help producing posts and a common view of who has prepared what. If batches of up to five drafts connect well with that calendar, they could help moderators coordinate responsibilities and the spacing of posts. We would judge the tools by how clearly they support reasons and responsibilities, alongside how much content they help prepare.
