Samsung announced on September 29, 2026 that six of its affiliates will invest a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure. Samsung Electronics accounts for $500 million. Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance will provide the remaining $500 million together. The announcement sets out the investment plan but does not give a payment timetable or a separate amount for each of those five companies. Source
Why power is part of a data center deal
KKR established Helix in June 2026 to develop AI infrastructure. Its stated scope covers large data centers, power generation and distribution, and fiber networks. A facility full of AI servers needs dependable electricity and connectivity as well as computing equipment. That is why this investment reaches beyond a conventional data center building. Samsung names KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and US power company Vistra among Helix’s founding investors. Source
Where Samsung’s businesses fit
Samsung points to several businesses that could serve this infrastructure market. Samsung Electronics supplies semiconductors and data center cooling equipment; Samsung C&T builds large facilities; Samsung SDS operates data centers and offers access to GPUs as a service; and Samsung SDI makes backup power equipment. These are capabilities the company described alongside the investment, not confirmed purchase orders from Helix. Readers can distinguish the announced funding commitment from any future supply agreements, which would need their own confirmation. Source
