The News, Explained

Electronic Arts published the skate. 0.32.5 patch notes on October 12, 2026. The update is planned for all platforms, with maintenance beginning at 9:40 a.m. PDT on October 13, or 1:40 a.m. KST on October 14. At the time of the announcement, these were scheduled changes rather than features already confirmed live. Because this is an online service, the actual return-to-play time can depend on how maintenance proceeds. Source

The biggest change is a full No Comply rework. A No Comply is a skateboard trick in which the front foot steps off and pushes against the ground as the rider pops the board. The new input combines a front-foot push with a quick downward flick of the right stick, while rotation input moves from the left stick to the right. The flick or scoop direction selects Backside, Frontside or Straight variants. The patch also adds Straight No Comply and Dark Catch connections. A 180 now ends in fakie, a 360 returns to the starting stance, and the trick can work on walls, transitions and a wider range of slopes and ramps. Source

Rules and travel interfaces also change. Score multipliers are disabled inside an active Block Party, although line scores and timers remain available. The Ferry Terminal will gray out unavailable areas and block travel while a Throwdown invite or activity countdown is active. The Water Taxi to the Isle of Grom is scheduled to close from 10 a.m. PDT on October 13 to 10 a.m. PDT on October 20, which corresponds to 2 a.m. KST on October 14 through 2 a.m. KST on October 21. The patch fixes Block Party interface and timer problems, ferry icons and travel behavior, plus a range of animation, audio and quest defects. EA separately lists unresolved issues. Social settings may fail to reflect parental-control settings, and proximity voice-chat volume may not fall as intended with distance during a Throwdown. The list also includes a camera that can remain stuck for the round after a distant wipeout and visual artifacting on a Radeon RX 7600 when Dynamic Resolution Scaling is enabled. Fixes and known issues should not be treated as the same status. Source

OYOPICK’s Take

This update is less about adding a place to visit than changing a movement players may already perform from muscle memory. Consolidating the input on the right stick and expanding terrain support could make the trick more consistent. Whether it actually feels better, however, depends on post-release input responsiveness, accidental activations and repeatability across different slopes.

A control rewrite also needs strong in-game teaching. EA points players to updated Skatepedia entries, but a short first-run drill that compares the old and new inputs would lower the relearning cost. A broader move set becomes useful when people can understand and reproduce the new rules without leaving play.

The voice-chat and parental-control display issues deserve more weight than an ordinary visual defect. Until distance-based audio and protection settings are confirmed to behave as shown, players may misunderstand who can hear them or whether a restriction is active. Before wider testing, the interface should make defaults, mute and reporting paths, and the effective parental-control state unmistakable.
