The News, Explained
Samsung announced on October 14, 2026, that it is expanding language support for Galaxy AI and Bixby. Galaxy AI is a group of AI features on Galaxy devices for translation, summaries and screen-aware suggestions. Bixby is a device agent that lets people control settings and functions through natural-language requests. The two services and their individual features do not share one language list, so the announced count of 24 does not apply to everything. Source
Call Assist, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist add Hungarian and Malay. These features translate calls, interpret conversations, and transcribe or summarize notes and recordings. The group, including Live Translate, now covers 24 languages. Samsung says the new Galaxy AI languages will arrive over the coming weeks, and some can be downloaded as language packs from the Settings app. Source
Now Nudge, which suggests a relevant next action from what is on screen, adds Dutch, Filipino, Gujarati, Hungarian, Malay, Romanian, Swedish and Turkish. That also brings Now Nudge to 24 languages, but its newly added list is not the same as the one for the translation, transcription and summary tools. Support for a language in one Galaxy AI feature therefore does not establish support in every other feature. Source
Bixby adds Polish, Thai and Vietnamese, bringing its total to 12 supported languages. Its new languages begin rolling out on October 14, while the new Galaxy AI languages follow over the coming weeks. The announcements share a date but not a release schedule. Detailed timing and available functions can vary by device and country. Source
Bixby requires a Samsung Account login and a data connection. Functions can differ by country, region and language, while recognition can vary with accents, dialects, expressions, pronunciation, voice level and the surrounding environment. Bixby may also be limited while media is being recorded, during calls, or when Maximum Power Saving mode, Emergency mode or Samsung Kids is active. Source
OYOPICK’s Take
The expansion matters because more people can reach AI assistance and device controls in a familiar language. A feature-by-feature support matrix, however, is more useful than a single count of 24. Hungarian and Malay join the translation and summary group, Now Nudge has a different eight-language addition, and Bixby follows a separate 12-language list.
Language access depends on more than the published total. Device and country rollout status, Samsung Account access, data connectivity and language-pack installation can all determine whether a feature works. Showing each feature’s live availability and remaining setup steps inside Settings would save people from comparing separate announcement lists.
Reliable natural-language device control across more languages could help people who find nested settings difficult to navigate. Turning that potential into practical accessibility will require transparent reporting on accent and dialect performance, clear ways to cancel mistaken actions, and visible country-level feature gaps.
